Marcus James joined Corporate Merchant Bank in 1995 as a Credit Officer. His responsibilities included marketing the bank’s loan products, interviewing prospective clients, making loan presentations to the credit committee and delinquency management. In 1997, he assumed the position of Officer in Charge with Corporate Merchant Bank and was responsible for compliance with internal reporting documents, ensuring compliance with Bank of Jamaica reporting requirements and managing the banks loan portfolio and human resources.
In 1998, Mr. James joined a family owned business, Nenan Limited in the position of Operations Manager with responsibility for product development, internal controls, strategic management and quality control.
He joined Paymaster Jamaica Limited in 1999 as Operations Manager where his responsibilities included developing operational guidelines, managing the company’s branch network, technology infrastructure and customer relations.
In 2000 his entrepreneurial drive led him to start Access Financial Services Limited. Mr. James is responsible for developing and implementing the company’s strategic plan, operating guidelines, internal controls, and human resource management.
Mr. James holds a Master of Business Administration with a major in Banking and Finance with Distinction from the University of the West Indies(1999) and a Bachelor in Business Administration specializing in Finance and Accounting from Western Carolina University (1994)
Mr. James is a founding member of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Jamaica, and is a Director of the Airports Authority of Jamaica and Chairman of its Audit and Finance committee.
