Marcus James - Managing Director

Marcus James joined Corporate Merchant Bank in 1995 as a Credit Officer.  His  responsibilities included marketing the bank’s loan products, interviewing prospective clients, making loan presentations to the credit committee and delinquency management. In 1997, he assumed the position of  Officer in Charge with Corporate Merchant Bank and was responsible for compliance with internal reporting documents, ensuring compliance with Bank of Jamaica reporting requirements and managing the banks loan portfolio and human resources.

 In 1998, Mr. James joined a family owned business, Nenan Limited in the  position of Operations Manager with responsibility for product development, internal controls, strategic management and quality control. 

He joined Paymaster Jamaica Limited in 1999 as Operations Manager where his  responsibilities included  developing  operational guidelines, managing the company’s branch network, technology infrastructure and customer relations.

 In 2000 his entrepreneurial drive led him to start Access Financial Services Limited.   Mr. James is responsible for developing and implementing the company’s strategic plan, operating guidelines, internal controls, and human resource management.

 Mr. James holds a Master of Business Administration with a major in Banking and Finance with Distinction from the University of the West Indies(1999) and a Bachelor in Business Administration specializing in Finance and Accounting from Western Carolina University (1994)

 Mr. James is a founding member of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Jamaica, and is a Director of the Airports Authority of Jamaica and  Chairman of its Audit and Finance committee.

Brian Goldson - Chairman

Mr. Brian Goldson joined Grace, Kennedy in September 1990 to take on the responsibility of launching Grace, Kennedy Remittance Services (GKRS) Ltd., the Super Agents for Western Union Financial Services Inc. Under his leadership GKRS has grown into the leading money transfer company in the Caribbean.
In November 1998, he was appointed a Director of Grace, Kennedy & Co. Ltd; and in August 1999 he was appointed Divisional Director of the Information Services Division where he maintained overall responsibility for GKRS/Western Union and International Communications. Prior to leaving Grace Kennedy and Co. Ltd. Mr. Goldson served as Chief Operating Officer of the, Information Services Division.

n July 2006 Mr. Goldson resigned from GraceKennedy Limited to pursue his personal interests external to the Grace Kennedy group.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Access Financial Services Limited as a board member of a number of privately held companies.
Mr. Goldson holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in

Investment Finance from the University of New Orleans and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Georgia State University.

Christopher Berry - Director

Mr. Berry joined Mayberry Investments Ltd. in 1987 and assumed responsibility for trading, sales and information technology. He became a financial advisor in 1990 and assumed the position of Chairman & CEO in 1993, a position he kept until recently when the roles of Chairman and CEO were separated. Mr. Berry sits on several boards, including the council of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, and was its deputy chairman in 2000; the Jamaica Central Securities Depository; the Forest Conservancy; Apex Health Care Associates Limited and Apex Pharmacy Limited. Mr. Berry, in March of 2005 guided the company to its successful IPO on the Jamaican Stock Exchange raising a record $J1.3 Billion. He received a B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta Georgia in 1983.

Gary Peart - Director

Mr. Peart joined Mayberry Investments Ltd. in May 2005 as its Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Peart has fifteen years of corporate financial experience the last ten of which were spent in senior positions at leading financial institutions. He was at Capital and Credit Merchant Bank from 1995 to 2001, where he had fixed income and treasury related responsibilities and ended with the position of Senior Manger. He joined George and Branday Limited in 2001 as an Assistant Vice President for Treasury and Investments and ended in 2004 as the General Manager of the newly created George and Branday Securities Limited. This new company was part of the merger that created First Global Financial Services and in 2004 he was appointed Vice President for Corporate Finance, Equity and Fixed Income Trading. He has a B.Sc. in economics from the University of the West Indies (2000) and an MBA from Florida International University (2003).
